About Me
Hi, I’m Tony Roman, and I’d like to thank you for visiting.
Just like a painter, a photographer does not instantly create wonderful works. It takes time, dedication, experimentation, and the willingness to continually challenge yourself and refine your vision.
For me, my medium is Black and White, and many of my tools are well-worn cameras and lenses that date back decades. Each tool — camera, lens, film or exposure — is carefully chosen. Together with location, composition, light, wind and shadow, they all become part of the decision to “capture” a moment.
Over the years I have continued to develop my craft, exploring landscapes, travel, abstracts, objects and the unexpected details of the world around us. That journey has also led to my Black & Light series of photographic art books, bringing selected images together in a form that can be experienced and revisited.
I take great pride in my photography and hope you enjoy what you see. If you do, please share it with others.

Tony Roman Photography Today
Now based in the Lititz/Lancaster, Pennsylvania area, I continue to pursue my lifelong passion for Black & White photography.
My current work explores Landscapes, Travel, Abstracts, Objects, Street Photography and the everyday subjects that catch my eye. I work with both modern and vintage cameras and lenses, always looking for the interplay of light, shadow, texture, form and composition that have defined my photography for decades.
This remains very much an ongoing body of work. I continue to photograph regularly, creating new images for my archive and material for future additions to my BLACK & LIGHT fine-art photography book series.
BLACK & LIGHT
BLACK & LIGHT currently consists of six photobooks — the Original Standard Edition, Special Edition, and Volumes I–IV. Together, the books bring together decades of my Black & White photography.
The series is available through Blurb, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and a growing network of booksellers and catalogs serving readers around the world.
