Welcome to BLACK & LIGHT (Black and Light), a continuing collection of black-and-white fine art photography books by Tony Roman.
I’m Tony Roman, a photographer who has spent decades exploring landscapes, architecture, travel, street scenes, portraits, abstracts, vintage cameras, and the ordinary objects that catch my eye.
Working primarily with vintage 35mm, medium-format, and large-format film cameras, along with occasional digital equipment, I concentrate on light, shadow, texture, shape, contrast, and atmosphere.
BLACK & LIGHT began as a way to preserve photographs I love in beautifully printed books rather than leave them buried in a growing digital archive. It has since developed into an ongoing photographic record of the places, people, and subjects that have shaped my life.
I continue to make new photographs, exploring ideas that may eventually become future volumes.

Volume VIII — Objects and Abstracts: The Beauty of Ordinary Objects
A 92-page exploration of everyday objects, still lifes, sculpture, interiors, botanicals, and abstract forms, revealing how light, shadow, texture, and geometry transform familiar subjects.
Both volumes have been published through Blurb and are entering the national and international bookselling networks.
Coming Soon — Volume IX: Panoramas
An exploration of the wider photographic view, featuring landscapes, waterways, architecture, and quiet horizons presented through panoramic black-and-white compositions.
